An extraordinary occurrence is reported from the moorland district near Chatswortli House. The medical officer of health for Chesterfield (Dr. Hero-srfc Peck) drove to Ramsley Reservoiis with his two children. Before he could got away it had fastened itself to hia wrist and struck him three times, tho virulent poison being injected into both his hands. Dr. Peck at once endeavored to suck the wounds and applied a ligature. U.R trap was some distance away and a good deal of time elapsed befor- he reached Ramsley Lodge, near Basics. Dr. Edleston, who was hastily surnmoncr, found Dr. Peck in an alarming and collapsed, condition. He applied all tin* usual remedies and sucked the wounds 'himself, and was able to report subsequently that there was a chance of thodoctor’s'life being saved.
