Frozen mutton and lamb have advanced rapidly, low prices having greatly stimulated tlio consumption of mutton, reducing stocks to moderate compass. This, coupled with the light cargoes afloat and the shortage of Argentine owing to the bad season, induced large . speculation, much meat changing ownership. Little has been moved, out of the store, the retail trade not having .responded to. the advance. Sheep: Ganterburv, light are quoted at 4|d, medium 4kl,' heavy 4|d; North Island 4 5-16 d, best brands 4gd; lambs, Canterbury light 4-Jd, medium 4|d, heavy 43d, Southland 4|d, North Island 4id, selected 4|d. Australian sheep 4d, River Plato 4Jd, lambs 4?d. Beef is unchanged.
