SOAIE IMPORTANT' DECISIONS

The dairy section of the Pure Food Congress at Paris, after discussion, decided that butter may contain 18 per cent, of water instead of 16 per cent., as decided at the Geneva Congress.
Boron Was recognised as a permissible preservative. Other sections recommended that when jams are not exclusively sugar and fruit, the fact must he indicated on the label, as also must the addition of chicory to coffee. It w r as decided that to transport mineral waters in wooden barrels should not be allowed.
