THE UNEMPLOYED.

AN UNSYMPATHETIC MINISTER, [Pick Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Oct, 21. A deputation of unemployed interviwed the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Labor, to-day, requesting that work: should be found for them. Mr. Millar replied that farming work was available in Soutlilaud, Otago, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, and Wairarapa. The deputationists answered that the unemployed were not used to farming work. The Minister advised the men to seek private employment, as the shortened expenditure "on public works would reduce the Government’s power to find work for the unemployed. Answering one of the deputationist’s remarks that the men could not go into the country without money, Mr. Millar stated they could not be of the stamp of men who had made the country.
