SCHOOL SPOIITS MEETING
At a meeting held at the High School yesterday afternoon, it was definitely decided to hold a school sports meeting at the Victoria Domain on December 16th, if the ground can be obtained on that date. A programme of twenty events was drawn ut>. including a 220 yards handicap and a 150 yards invitation race for public schools. In addition to the other flat races, the) programme provides for long jump, high jump, throwing the cricket ball, Siamese race, walk, relay race, and bicycle race. Mr. W. A. G. Penlington was appointed secretary and treasurer. A few more oromises of prizes were received, and it is hoped that still more Will be forthcoming, in order that the meeting, whicli promises well,; can b© made a thorough success. This is the first gathering of its kind in connection with the local High School, and as it is proposed to make the fixture an annual one, it is anticipated that very henrtv support will be accorded by the public. MANAWATU ATHLETIC CLUB. fPran Pnr.RR Association/! PALMERSTON N., October 21. _ The newly-formed Manawatu Athletic Club has decided to hold a series of fortnightly evening meetings. The first is to be on November. 24th. Handsome trophies will be given, and a valuable prize for the competitor gaining most points during the season.
