SHIP BUILDING MAGNATE. United Press Association— Copyright. ■LONDON, Oct. 22. Arthur Wilson, head of the shipbuilding firm of Thomas Wilson, Spns, and Co., Hull, is dead. HON. G. F. RICHARDSON. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 23. The Hon. George F. Richardson, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Mines, ■and Immigration in the Atkinson Government, died to-day, aged 73. He arrived at New Zealand in the ship Dominion, from London, in 1851. He joined the Government service m 18oU as cadet in tbe Survey office. He was closely- identified with Southland affairs for many years. He met with a buggy accident eleven months ago, while inspecting a Wairarapa property on behalf of the Government, and never recovered from the effects. He was only seriously ill a few days before his death. He was a prominent officer of the Institute of Surveyors. He leaves a widow, two sons and three daughters. OLD AUCKLAND RESIDENT. AUCKLAND, Oct. 23. Mr J. M. McLachlan, one of Auckland’s'oldest residents, formerly in business as a draper in a large way, died to-day. WANGANUI EX-MAGISTRATE. WANGANUI, Oct. 23. Mr Standford, formerly S.M. here, who had been ailing for some time, died this morning.
