DOG POISONING.

(To the Editor.) Sir —I should like, through the medium of your paper, to draw attention to the fact that two dogs have come to an untimely end in what.appears, to b© a mysterious manner. One coming under my personal observation was undoubtedly a case of poisoning, as the animal died after a fit of convulsions in a paddock off Grey Street. Idles© two cases point to the fact that some person or persons has laid poison for some reason. If such is the case, and it has been laid for a legitimate puTjjOse, it is only right in the interests of those who own .animals that the fact should be well advertised, thereby giving them the opportunity of guarding .their property. In both cases the animals succumbed not very far from the town, so the cause cannot be very far away. Some time ago several inoffensive dogs cam© by a tragic end through some individual who appeared to have no other end in view save that of wanton and brutal destruction of creatures, as the poison was laid in or about the town, jf this is a repetition of that kind the, sooner the culprit is brought to book the better.-X am,
