The following is the.Rev'. D. C. Bates’ summary and forecast: —During the .past two days strong southerly . winds and cold and wet weather have prevailed, hut the limit of the storm fell on the east coast of the South Island. SnoAV fell thick among the mountains, and hail and sleet on Saturday in tlio south. The barometer has risen nearly an inch since Friday evening in parts, and had not been so generally low for a long time previously. The present indications are for a ■change soon (for milder weather, the winds changing by easterly and northerly soon, especially in the south, with a slowly falling barometer.
