OPENING DAY. The event of the season —the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Show—opens this morning at the Park Racecourse. During the past day or so people have been flooding into town, and the hotel accommodation has been stretched to its utmost. Since Saturday the town has presented an appearance of unusual animation, and only fine weather is needed to make the'annual Show a thorough success. From 9.30 to noon there win be three rings going to-day, and though no cattle will he judged, cows to be milked must be on the ground by 4 pun. Sheep will be judged in classes 107 to 142, inclusive. In No. 1 ring mares to breed hunters will be taken first, and the following classes wul follow: Saddile stallions, thoroughbred yearlings, thoroughbred 2-year-old colts, thoroughbred 2-year-old fillies and geldings, thoroughbred brood mares, thoroughbred stallions, maiden backs, and lightweight hacks. In No. 2 ring the classes taken will he as follows : Coaching stamp, harnessstallions, dcg-cart horses, harness pairs over 15.1, single harness horses 14.3_t0 15.1, single harness horses over -15.1, harness ponies under 13 hands, harness pairs under 14.2, four-in-hand teams, and boy riders. In No. 3 ring hack yearlings will bo the first class taken. Pony stallions will follow, and then will come pomes of 12 hands and under. The subsequent, order will be:Ponies over 12 and under 13 hands, over 13 and under 14 hands, cobs over 14 and under 14.2, po’o -ponies. girl riders, and walking horses. Judging in the three rings will cease at neon, when driving through the uprights will take place. There will b& an adjournment for lunch at 12.30, after which troop horses, hunters, pony jumping, maiden jumpers, and the saddle trot will be the events.
