TI-IE FINANCE BILL. United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Oct.'27.- ’ ILe ‘‘Standard” has successfully opened a, public subscription for defraying the elections of Unionist working men.' An animated debate took place in the House of Commons on a proposal to omit clause 43 of the Finance Bill, on the ground that it was an attempt to carry a Licensing Bill in the guise of a, finance measure. It was claimed that many of the smaller licensed houses non Id ’be taxed out of existence. Mr Asquith dewed that there had been any vindictiveness shown bv the ■Government, though the trade" had been warned of the result if the Licensing Bill were rejected. Mr H.
