War Against Women’s Hat Pin.

HAVE CAUSED MANY ACCIDENTS Official war has begun on the murderous hatpins worn bv women in Paris. With the advent of the big hat it has become fashionable for a woman to go about the streets with her head bristling on all sides with hat pin weapons of many designs. Some of the pins are nearly a foot and a-half long, and are like thin-bladed swords. Numerous accidents hare resulted. In the crowds about the railway stations and in the' shops hundreds of persons have_ been wounded by hat pins, some seriously. A few weeks ago a civil engineer riding in an omnibus lost one eye as the result of a woman’s sudden toss of her head. A salesgirl in a department store was dangerously wounded during a bargain rush. A babe in arms killed accidently with one of these murderous ornaments is the latest victim. The Paris press has begun to make war oil the long hatpin, with the result that the police have taken np the matter and are considering a measure to regulate the length. Since June 1 the police have recorded more than 50 accidents due to the pins.
