BOBBERY AND VIOLENCE.
EXTR AORDINARY CASE IN AUCKLAND. PKICKS ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, October 80. \n extraordinary case of robbery with violence, occurred last night. A ladv who came from Fiji to undergo a serious operation was placed m a ca.j in Queen Street by a doctor who instructed a man, who jumped on the box and assumed the driver s -eat, to drive the lady to a private hospital. The driver taking the lady in the direction, cf Gnehunga, the lady protested to the man that she was being carried beyond her destination, whereupon. she alleges he left his seat, struck her, stole her gold rings and jewellerv and a considerable sum of money.* The doctor subsequently proceeded to the private hospital to see the patient. Finding she was not there he communicated with the police. Six constables were detailed to search for the lady, and found) her at Onehunga. The police sent her to Hi private hospital. She was suffering from shock. The cab was found in Queen Street again, but the driver had disappeared! Tlie cabman, it is stated, was having his tea when a man known to the police assumed the role of cabman. So far lie has not been arrested.
