Afr Merriman, in the Cape Assembly, announced that the Government were asking Lord Crewe to publish the report of the- deliberations of the Imperial Defence Conference. He added: The Cape and Transvaal representatives strongly opposed the wretched tinpot navies, and hoped that in future the British naval (programme would he discussed in the colonial Parliaments beforehand. INDEFATIGABLE LAUNCHED. rt 'LONDON, Oct. 29. The cruiser-battleship Indefatigable has been launched at Devonport. Her dimensions have been .kept secret, but she- is the longest vessel in the world, •has a displacement of 19,000 tons, and a probable speed of 2S knots. The second-class cruiser Gloucester lias been launched at Dalmnir.
