VALEDICTORY.

PRESENTATION TO MR. G. M. WILLIAMSON. On Saturday morning a pleasant gathering took place in the Gisborne cilice of the Agricultural Department, when members of the local staff met to bid good-bye to Mr. G. M. Williamson, dairy inspector, who is retiring from the Department owing to the ago regulation. Mr. W. Miller, Inspector of Stock, officer in charge, presided, and after expressing the regret felt by him and other; members of the staff, and speaking in terms of praise of the work done by Mr. Williamson, asked him to accept the following letter:— “G. M. Williamson, Esq., Dairy Inspector, Gisborne. Dear Sir, —On "the eve of your retirement from the public service, with which you have been so long and honorably connected as dairy inspector, we take the opportunity of wishing you health, prosperity, and every success in whatever calling in life you may in future follow. Our relations with you have been of the most cordial nature, and we have much admired you for your integrity and enthusiasm in the performance of your duties, and the courtesy you have always shown, both to the public generally and to your brother officers in the service.—Signed, W. Miller, inspector of stock, in charge;- S. Burton, veterinary surgeon; W. Ross, inspector of stock; W. B. Hingston, inspector of stock; C. R. Spragg, abattoir manager; J. Tomlinson, meat inspector; H. F. Brittain,'meat inspector; and E. F. Sullivan, clerk.” •. In addition, Mr. Miller, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr. Williamson with a marble clock, suitably inscribed, and a silver butter dish for Mrs. Williamson. . Other members of the staff wished Mr. and Mrs. Williamson long life and happiness, and endorsed,.the remarks of Mr. Miller. Mr. Williamson in a few feeling words thanked the members of the staff for their kindness, and the gathering dispersed. ;
