A BONUS FOR BABIES.
A bonus to mothers for every child born is a proposal that is hardly likely to be seriously entertained b} T tho Government. To be of any use to women in poor circumstances the bonus would require to bo fairly substantial, and no Government, however anxious to keep up the country’s birth-rate, could afford to grant the sum required.—“ Marlborough Express.”
