GISBORNE CLUB
The usual Aveekly committee meeting of the Gisborne RoAving Club Avas held last night, Mr. W, Johnston, vico-cap-tairi, in the chair. ’ 1 The folloAving changes were decided in the creAvs : Stevenson’s crew, W. Johnston replaces G. Rowe, J. McLean takes over Grinlinton’s crew, Mulvibill replaces Morgan in Curtis’ creAV, Dobson replaces C. J. Hamilton, the latter being unable to toav. Dobson Avas originally No. 3, but now takes etroko, and. Daniells rows No. 3. Mr. C. Cogar Avas elected a member of the chib. The secretary intimated that lie had arranged to have the gas installed in the idled. It Avas resolved to ask one P* Die strokes to explain Avliy his ci'oav had not been training regularly. It was resolved to commenco tho races for Messrs Robertson’s and Hen-
nessy’s trophies on Monday next, and the clraAV resulted as follows: A. Grade (Hennessy’s trophies) —-Monday, Gully v. Stephenson, G. Puflett v. P. Hamilton, byes G. Buscko and R. Dobson; B grade (Robertson’s trophies)—Monday, Traill v. Hansen, Flemming v. H. Bennett, byes Curtis, McLean, Cowan, A. Coleman, Grenfell, H. Puliett. ' In view of the interest taken by the public, it Avas resolved that between races the crews change into the boats at the rotunda, and also to strictly enforce the 5-minute rule requiring crews to be promptly on the river after their arrival at th-e shed. .„ Mr. W. Ilackctt was appointed starter, and in connection with the next trial fours it Avas resolved to ■ put on tbe folloAving races: A grade, double sculls, A. Cox’s challenge cup and gold medals; B grade, fixed-seated fours, Mr. C. Morse’s trophies. Entries are to close on Friday, November I2th, and the races Avill commence on Monday, 22nd November. Mr. Johnston reported having received a communication from Mr. Isaacs, of the N.Z.A.R.A. regarding tlio formation of a local rowing centre. It Avas decided, after- discussion, that no further action be taken in the matter at present.
POVERTY BAY CLUB
A meeting of the committee of tho Poverty Bay RoAving Club '\vas held last e\ r ening at the Cosmopolitan Club, Mr. J. Webb presiding. ; It AA’as decided to toav the races for Mr. Cox’s prizes on tho Waimata course, beginning on November 19th. The secretary was instructed to order four pairs of sculls. A donation £1 Is was received.from His Honor Judge Jones, a vice-president; of the club. Messrs F. E. Porter and J. McConnell were appointed the visiting committee for the Aveek. It Avas reported that tho creAvs for Mr. Cox’s trophies were in hard training, and that the new club-house ivas getting on well toivards comnletion.
