STATE MILLS DEMANDED

| Pan Pukes Association.! WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. the timber workers’ conference to-day, Mr. Byrne, Southland, moved that the Government be- urged to establish State sawmills and State timber yards. The motion Avas carried. A resolution AA'as also adopted urging that the Workers’ Compesation for Accidents Act should be amended to provide for full pay for the first four Aveeks of incapacity and half-pay subsequently, and that employers should pay all first aid and medical expenses, provision to be made that an injured Avorker receives his pay weekly on the ordinary pay day.
