EXEMPLARY FINE INFLICTED. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Charles Forbes was charged before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M., with having used obscene language within the hearing of persons passing along a public highway on October 26th. The accused is a stableman, and it was alleged that lie bad made use ol' very bad language when taking his horses out- of a paddock near Matthews’ Road. The accused pleaded guilty, and elected to be dealt with summarily. James Hay, storeman, gave evidence as to Forbes’ language, and handed to the Bench a slip of paper with the words alleged to have been used written down on it. •>His Worship: It is most disgusting. This sort of thing cannot be tolerated at all.
