The casualty list of the machinery inspector’s report, referring to the accident to the Manama at the Bluff, concerning which .great _ reticence ''as maintained, says that just as tlie Mnlama left the Bluff on her voyage to Dunedin on January 25 last she touched some unknown obstruction, which resulted in a leak in No. 5 water-bal-last tank, and on the starboard side. A survey was made of the inside of the tank, and it was discovered a hull plate was cracked for a distance of Urn between the third and fourth floor plates from the after end of the tank. A plate was bolted W the* outside of the hull plating .over,tlie.-crack, and cemented np inside tliS"tank. that made the vessel seaworthy, and she uas peimitted to proceed on her voyage.
