Unitkd Press Association —Copyright. (Received November 4, - .40 p.m.) MELBOURNE Nov. 4. The weather was hot ana sunny, and there was a fair attendance at Elemingtori to-day. The Governor-General and the Government House party were present. The New Zealand-bred Haeremai performed ipoorly in the Hurdle Race, cantering in nearly last. .Manga-, nite, by*Machine Gun, was sixth in a field of eight in the Mimosa Stakes. Kerlie was grfeatly fancied for the Linlithgow Stakes, and led at the start, but apparently got bumped later, dropping back to last. Recovering, however, be made a fight in the straight with Dhobie, who beat him at the finish with plenty to spare. In the Carnival Handicap, the New Zealand sired Golden Slipper, IVaiapuna, and Seddon failed to do anything startling. For the Oaks there were only three starters. Lady San tvinning in fairly fast time. The following were the results :—• November Hurdle Race, 2 miles.— Vernier 10.13, 1; Last Mistake 11.12, 2; Coir 10.7, 3. Nine others ran. IVon by a length, a length between second and third. Time, 3min 49j,sec. Mimosa Stakes, 6 furlongs —Lager 1, Desert Rose 2, FJarnen 3. Five others ran. Won by a length and a-half, eight lengths between second and third. Time, limn 17sec. Linlithgow Stakes, 1 mile. —Dhobie 1, Kerlie 2, Knox 3. The other starters were: Pink ’Un, Parsee, lolaire, Mote a, Son of a Gun, Enchanteur, Mindful, and Lady Ruenalf. From a good start Kerlie and Pink ’Un were first away, and maintained a good position. Motoa led into the. straight, with Kerlie coming fast. Dhobie shot out at the grandstand, and won by three lengths, three-quarters of a length between second and third, Pink ’Un fifth, Motoa sixth. Time, lmin 41-Asec. Carnival Handicap. Is mile. —True Scot 8.8, 1; Britain 7.2, 2; Winteriga 6.9, 3. Eight others started. Mala was in the lead for the greater part of the way, but True Scot-, full of running, won by 'half-a-length, two and a-balf lengths between and third. IVaipuna was sixth, Seddon ninth, and Golden Slipper last. Time, 2miu 74sec. The Oaks Stakes, H mile—Lady San (Smith) 1, Byplay (Wood) 2, Vivacious (Pratt) 3. The only starters. Vivacious made most of the running at a smart pace. At the five furlong post all raced together. Lady San. came away in the straight, and won by a length from Byplay, I ivacious ton lengths off, third. Time, 2min 37fsee. Veteran Stakes, 11 miles. —Nushka 8.5, 1; IVoorooma 7.3, 2: Footpad 7.1, 3. Also started: Kooringa, Crofton, Tulo Vouni, Pendower, Diti, Mnemon, Idyll and Katanga. Idyll headed the field ’ for a furlong, and occupied a good position till the straight was reached, when Nushka made a run, winning by half-a-neck, a neck between second and third. Idyll finished last. Time, 2min 36;’&ec.
