When about to leave town one day a certain elderly bishop, a bachelor, AA'ho Avas especially fond of his bath, gave strict orders to the housemaid about his “bawthtub,” and told her not to allow anyone to use it.. Hoivever, the temptation grew on the poor housemaid, and she took _ a plunge. Upon returning unexpectedly, the bishop found, traces of the recent .stolen bath, and questioned the maid so close]y that she. had to confess she was the guilty one, and was Very sorry. “I hope you do not think it is a sin,. Bishop?” asked Jane in tears. ' Eyeing her sternly, lie said, “Jane, your using my tub is not a siri, but what distresses me most is that you Avould do anything behind my hack that you Avould not do before my face.”
