NUHAKA NORTH

(Fr,om Our Correspondent.) The weather has been very wet in this district during the past two weeks, consequently the work of shearing has been delayed, and farmers are anxiously waiting for the weather to cleai. Good accommodation has now been provided for the shearers throughout the district, and new woolsheds have also been erected by Messrs Rattray and A. Richardson. The country is looking ■'W'elll, ana there is abundance of feed. Ine iNuhaka butter factory is now m .mil swing, the Natives being the principal milk suppliers. ' , , • There has recently been erected m the thriving township of Nuhaka a commodious post and telegraph office. The structure is an up-to-date DUilfling, and is shortly to be opened. It will be much appreciated by the residents of the locality. ‘ Circulars are being issued .to those interested in establishing! (freezing works in the Wairoa County, with the idea of getting their views on the siibiect. There are two subscription lists, one in favor of works to be erected at Wairoa, the other in favor of works to be erected at Waikokopu. The subscriber is asked to fill in .how many shares he would be prepared' to take, and liow many sheep he •would be prepared to freeze in the proposed freezing works. . Some improvements are now being made on the main road, and metal is beinc broken to be placed on the worst parts of the Morere : Tarewa, road • At the last meeting of;.the Wairoa Countv Council it was decided to have a bridge erected across the Tarewa river. It is to be hoped this-work will he put in hand as soon as possible, so that the travelling public will. be able to avoid the troublesome crossing.
