MENT

The “Daily Telegraph” states that the Unionist peers overwhelmingly favor Lord Lansdowne’s amendment, which is expected to refer the Budget to the judgment of the electorates, hut 40 have signed a memorial announcing their intention to abstain from voting. Lord Robert Cecil, speaking at Blackburn, favored a retaliatory tariff, also (‘preference to the colonics, but he strongly opposed food taxes.
