NAPIER WOOL SALES

TPer Press Association.] NAPIER, Nov. 10. The first Napier wool sale of the season took place to-day, when over 300 bales were catalogued. Usually tne first sale of the season at this centre does not- take place till December, but this year the experiment of holding one early in November has been tried. Had it not been for .adverse weather conditions prevailing during the last few weeks a much larger catalogue would have been placed before buyers, it is felt, however, that provided climatic conditions are favorable if the experinientls repeated next year a large catalogu6* may bo looked forward t-o by the buyers. Buyers attended to-day m large numbers, and representatives or Bradford, America, the Continent,, and Australia competed keenly for the various lots submitted. As was to he expected after the fine winter the wool opened up bright and in good condition. Following is a comparative statement showing the prices realised at this sale as compared with the prices realised at the December sale of last year, and also at the last sale of the season, the first set of figures regarding to-day’s sale, the second set December, 1908, and the third set Feburary last: —Best halfbred: None offering, lOd to lHd, none offering.
