TRAGEDY NEAR WAIROA.

BODY FOUND HANGING,

fPmt Puebb Asaom-NON.I WAIROA, Nov. 12. A native reported to the police this morning that Jie had found a body hanging from a tree near Opoutama, in the Mahia district. He did not go near enough to see if the body was that of a European or Maori, but he alleges that it has been hanging for two months. No one is missing. Constable Torr has left to make inquiries.

Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M., District Coroner, yesterday received information from Constable Bevan, of Wairoa, that tho body of a man had been found hanging to a tree at Opoutama. It was in an advanced state of decomposition, and had not yet been identified. Constable Torr was sent to make inquiries. Mr. Barton gave instructions for an inquest to be held.
