SEVERE SHOOK AT WELLINGTON AND NELSON.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. A violent earthquake occurred here at 9.30 to-night, causing considerable consternation. People in the theatre became very much alarmed, and most of them hurriedly left. At the Opera House there was quite a stampede, the passages being quickly blocked. Some people fainted. The post office bell started ringing, and some windows, were broken. A lamp in a house on Kent Terace was upset, and a bedroom burned. 7;
NELSON, Nov. 12. A severe earthquake shock was felt here at 9.30 to-night. It lasted for about half a minute.
