In ordinary circumstances she was due at Hobart on Thursday evening, October 23rd, from New Zealand, but she did not arrive until 7.30 on Friday.aiight. She left Dunedin on Sunday, and the Bluff at 10.30 p.m. on Alonday, and experienced .strong west and north-west gales find heavy sea until Wednesday afternoon. The wind then shifted to the southward, and blew a strong gale. The sea assumed such alarming proportions and the ship knocked about to such an extent that she was hove to from H p.m. <m Wednesday until noon on Thursday, when the weather moderated. Strong southerly winds and sea were experienced until arrival. A passenger, in conversation with a “Hobart Mercury” reporter, said it was an awful night, and the ship rolled and pitched to an alarming extent. The captain, ho said, was on the bridge all night, and must have .spent a very anxious time. The cargo, he added, shifted, and all hands were called put to trim it. The vessel sustained no damage.
