CHILD INJURED BY MOTOR CAR
[Per Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Nov 15. A little girl named Iris Marion Jackson, 8 vears of age, was knocked down by Dr. Sandstein's motor ear tonight and somewhat severely injured. ACCIDENT TO A PRISON VAN. While the police van, containng ai load of prisoners from the Supreme Court, was going to the railway station' to-night a wheel collapsed and the occupants were thrown out. A prisoner named Geo. Allan received severe injuries to his head and back, and was taken to the hospital m a semi-conscious condition. A BOOKMAKER'S SUICIDE. W AIM ATE, Nov. 15. \ middle-aged man named RobertHvland Smith, well known as a bookmaker committed suicide at 11.5 U o’clock last night by cutting his throat with, a razor. He was fined last week for assaulting an old man on Hie show oTOunds whilst drunk, and this and other things' preyed on Ins mind.
