TURANGANUI CLUB.

There was a large gathering of bowlers on the Turanganui green yesterday, which was quite an exception for a Monday afternoon. The competition in the Bennett Oup was continued, the results being:— , ‘ „ ... W. Ratcliffe 18 beat M. G. Nasmith, iunr 14.—0 n the first three heads Nasmith scored 5, and then Ratcliffe obtained the shot. Both bowlers then put in some good play, but Ratcliffe, playing exceptionally well, wrested the shot from Nasmith time after time, and on ten heads the latter was unable to score, Ratcliffe putting up ten singles and a- three, and on the 13th head aa as 13 to 5. A ding-dong “go” ensued to the final head, but Nasmith was unable to overtake Ratcliffe, who won by four P °A. tS Sawyer 20 beat M. G. Nasmith jura* 12.: —This game provided a good exhibition of drawing, as the players were evenly matched. On the 7th head the score showed 5 all, 12th head 8 all, and the 14th head 10 all. On the following head Sawyer obtained 3, and followed this up with a 1,2, and 3, thus obtaining .a commanding lead of 19 to 10 on the 18th head. Nasmith then put up two singles, and Sawyer replying with a single, the latter Avon by 8 points. . The games Avill be continued this afternoon.
