WILDING v. BROOKES
United Press Association^-Copyrigiit. SYDNEY, Nov. 15. The conditions were iperfect for the Wilding-Brookes match. For skill and excitement it approached the famous Davis Cup contest, when Wright (the American) beat Brookes. The Victorian aa'oii the first two sets easily, but from that out Wilding,playing magnificently, held his opponent, rvho at the closing stages rvas visibly tiring. The match occupied tAA'o hours, the last set taking 40 minutes. Brookes was not just at his best, rvanting that unerring precision which earned him the championship of the world. Wilding was undoubtedly the better man on the day s play, and he won a great contest fairly on his merits. He played even better than Avhen he defeated the 1 Ameiican, Alexander, for the Davis Cup.
