A SERIOUS CHARGE.
A MAGNETIC HEALER IN
TROUBLE.
fpim Press Association.! NELSON, Nov. 22. The hearing of a shocking case was commenced to-day before Mr Evans, S.M., a middle-aged man, named William Henry Joseph Kingston, being charged with indecently assaulting a young woman. It appears that the man posed as a magnetic healer and that the girl had been under his treatment. •_ The prosecutrix stated that Kingston told her that .she was suffering from appendicitis and other ailments for which he subjected "her to a form of massage. - He acquired greatinfluence over .her, which she was powerless to resist. He had improper relations with her. She further alleged that the accused, a married man with three children, proposed marriage to her, saying that his -wife would not live long: He also treated her sister. Dr. Gibbs stated that he had examined the girl and found her to be strong and healthy, free fronr any organic troubles,, past or present. The case is likely to last some days.
