AlcConnell; Me-sdameS Jones, St. George and infant; Alessrs Yates and Parker; Masters St. George (2). The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall sailed for Auckland yesterday’afternoon, taking about 20 tons of cargo. She calls at Limestone Island to load cement lor transhipment to the Monowai. 'The U.S.S. Co.’s Waikare . returns from Auckland this afternoon, and leaves during the evening for South. The Tuatea goos out on arrival and again at 7 p.m. 'The Westport Coal Company’s Regulus left for Westport yesterday afternoon. She is duo back on Sunday next with another cargo of 500 tons of coal. The auxiliary schooner Waiapu left for Auckland yesterday afternoon. ■Messrs Richardson and Sons’ Rum was to have arrived about 1 a.m. this morning from Napier with a general cargo. She should leave on her return on this afternoon’s tide. The U.S.S. Co.’s Flora was expected to clear Coast, ports yesterday and. pro - ceed to Auckland. The U.S.S. Co.’s Wanaka arrived at the Blufr on Alonday afternoon. She left yesterday afternoon for Oamaru, Timaru, Napier, and Gisborne. Whilst the Lyttelton Harbor authorities are undecided as to how to procure a Morse lamp of sufficient power to enable signals to be read by a vessel at a distance of five or six miles from Adderlov Head (Lyttelton), the Wellington harbormaster has adopted an acetylene light-, which has a snlehdid range. The new lamp is now part of the equipment at the Beacon Hill signal station, at Seatoun. near the Wellington entrance. The lamp can be quickly lighted, and . a dazzling white light is thrown. The Marine Department states that Alovse lamps are to be supplied to a'l lighthouses, and the High Commissioner has been asked to'obtain information concerning the type of Morse signalling lamps used in Great Britain. An aproximate amount to defray: the expense’ of the lamps is set down in the .Estimates, which, when passed by Parliament, will be used to obtain the lamps. The Den of Crombie, under the auspices rtf the American and Aust-rahan Line, lias been fixed to load at New York for Australian and New Zealand ports. She will leave New York on January 10th. The ‘Sydney Alarine Xlnderwriters iand Salvage Association have received cable advice that the steamer Aloraytshire had been ashore at Liverpool, but had been refloated, and on her voyage apparently undamaged. The Moravshire, which belongs to the Fed-eral-Houlder-Shire Line, is bound from Avonmouth via Liverpool to Sydney and New Zealand-ports. • Air. G. H. Scales, of Wellington, has chartered the steamer" Clan Ogilvie to ]oad at New Zealand ports for London. The vessel is at present at Bunbury leading jarrah for Dominion delivery.
