Tne Se replied that he had made a stateS t which they did not regard as -atsfactorv. The Judge refused protalon, and sentenced the prisoner ta six months’ imprisonment. Ld^ d Burgess, Edward Pyle, and John Healev were charged with having, on August ~o4th, robbed James Andrew Me Kan of’£l7 2s, and with having used personal vio.ence towards him. There were other counts charging the accused , with' stealing money assault -with intent to rob, and assault. Owing to McLean not putting in an appearance, it was decided that tbo case should stand over till next sittings. William Brooks, found guilty yesterday of acting on a cheque knowing it to hare been forged and who pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining money by false pretences, was sentenced to 12 months on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently.
