THE WEATHER
1 The following is the Rev. D. f O. Bates’ summary and / forecast: The barometric pressure has been very unsteady in the north, but decreased considerably in the southern __ districts. Southerly winds have yielded to moderate to strong westerly; and northerly. The. weather has improved. The present are for a further fall in the barometer everywhere, with freshening northerly winds general.'y and unsettled and cloudy weather. Rain is probable on the west coast and the southern districts especially. Com ditions are still ominous to the northwestward, though the prognostications arc not yet more definite than they were yesterday.
