CHERRY MINING DISASTER.
COWARDLY SUGGESTION BY
LITHUANIANS
United Press Association —Copyright, NEW YORK, Novi 23.
Waite and Clelland, the mine heroes, and tlieir immediate supporters had a furious hand-to-hand fight witli the Lithuanians, who argued that all the, water should be given to the strong, adding the sick, will die anyway. Brandishing their knives, the Lithuanians sought to steal the, water stored in holes. Waite and Clelland struck them down, established guards, and insisted on a double supply for their weaker and disabled comrades.
Explorers last night reached the lowest level, where air was found, also water. They hope to reach more survivors.
