MEETING AT NAPIER

(Special to “Times.”) NAPIER, Nov. 25. Th? Hawke’s Bay .District. Education Board met this afternoon. Leave, of absence was granted to- Messrs Morgan and -Grant. . 1 - 1 On the recommendation of the .agricultural instructor, - it was decided to establish experimental stations at Dannevirke, Waipawa, Hastings, and Gisborne. The practical agricultural teaching at these stations will have special bearing on the industry of the district. The cost of the equipment ol these stations was authorised to enable the work to bo commenced at the beginning of tlie' year; Kaitaratabi.—As the owner is pro.-, pared to transfer a section to the Board it was decided to apply to the Department for a grant for the purchase of a building. Weiroa.—Tenders ranging from E 1740 to £I4OO wore.received for the erection of the new school. As the lowest tender was in excess of the grant,, it was decided to apnlv. to the Department for a further grant. The question of increasing the area of,the new school site was deferred till next meeting; Matawlicro.—Tt was decided that a partition should be erected in the. infant room. Muriwai.—A new copper and bath were authorised. The Gisborne High School Board of Governors applied to the Board to purchase their interest in the technical school buildings which are erected on the ‘Board’s property. The ' request was declined. The question of the control of technical instruction of school classes was referred to tilio special technical committee to report to the next meeting of the Board, which will bo hold on Monday, December 16th: 1 _He the Kan a lean a e School, jt was decided to acquire part of section 5. under the Public Works Act. Application will be made to the. Department for a grant for a new building on receiving a guarantee from the residents of t.’nc payment of the teacher’s salary. The architect was instructed to dvrev cut plans for new c’osets for the Gisborne School.
