SITTINGS AT WELLINGTON
[Pun Prebb Association.] WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. A modern Enoch Adren case came before His Honor Mr. . Justice, Edwards, sitting in divorce, at the Supreme Court yesterday. The petitioner, James Reed (who was represented by Mr. M. Myers), asked-for a declaration that his marriage with Caroline Gibbins was a nullity. There was no appearance of the respondent. The case for the petitioner was that the respondent had been married-to a man named John Gibbins, and they went together to Melbourne. She thought she had good reason to believe that ner husband was dead, and she returned to Zealand, whereshe.was married to the petitioner,, who is a boarding-house keeper at Masterton. Petitioner and respondent lived together fer a considerable time, and several children were bom. After a while Gibbins turned up in Masterton, and petitioner and respondent both saw him. Some time later the respondent left the petitioner, but lie had continued to maintain the children. Petitioner had not seen the respondent for three, years. His Honor granted the decree nisi, and mado it returnable in three months. Two other cases were dealt with, Emily Woodmass being granted a deoroe nisi on account oi John Wooomass deserting her, and Rosa Prebble gaming a decree nisi against Thomas Prebble for miconduct. SITTINGS AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 25. In the Divorce Court, in the case of Elizabeth Hester Spaan versus John Spann, a decree nisi was granted with the custody of the. children.: In tho case of Mary Ann Bradley versus Edward Bradley a decree nisi was granted.
