COUNTRY NEWS.
PROPOSED MATA WAT HALL (From Our Own Correspondent.) The public meeting convened by Mr, ; J. B..'Clarke, on November 20th, for, the purpose of discussing the immediate erection of a public hall in the Matawai district, was a great success, and the attendance clearly showed the great interest that was taken in this important matter. Among those present were Air. J. B. Clark (chairman), Rev. E. Walter, Alessrs Pigott, Abbotsford, Smith, Buscke, Haisman, Neal, Blair, Green, Lyford. ARv AlcKenzie, and J. AlcKenzie. There were upwards of 15 persons in attendance besides these, all of whom took a lively part in the meeting. After three hours’ discussion, x the following motions were carried: Proposed by. Air. Pigott that the hall be erected as soon as possible. A vote of thanks to Messrs Henson and Green for the offer of an acre of land (gratis), which was accepted. Proposed by Air. Abbot Smith-that a committee be elected to go into all details connected with the nail, and lav before the public full particulars •for discussion. . \ ' , The following committee was elected: Alessrs J. B. Clark, J. Haisman, J. Pigott, A. Smith, Al. AlcKenzie. It wa.s decided to'hold a public meeting at the earliest:.date' possible. A vote of. thanks _to the chairman concluded the meeting.
