Bates’; summary and forecast: A high pressure ‘has prevailed, and the weather has ’been'fine, except about the* East Cape, where rain has fallen ana' a south-east gale, sprang up this afternoon., Moderate to strong south'easterly winds have prevailed over tlie North Island, and easterly elsewhere. The weather will probably continue fair inmost parts but with increasing haziness alid cloudiness'-for more unsettled weather, due first in; the extreme north and south after about 36 >hours.
