A housewife residing near Vivian Street, Wellington, was .surprised last week by a man who drove up in a liorse and cart, and said that he had come for one • hundredweight of coal, as a mistake had been made by his firm in delivering six hundredweight for five. He got what he wanted, and, he probably told similar stories at other places, and secured enough coal to enable him to sell a substantial quantity to small buyers. It is almost needless to add that the coal merchant whose name was used had no knowledge of the man’s proceedings.
