TRAGEDY AT KAIWARRA.
A SINGULAR CASE.
rPrn Pkkss Association.f WELLINGTON. Nov. 27. The man whose body was found on the beach near Kaiwarra on Thursday was Andrew Edwards, married, aged 40,* a resident of Khaiidal.an. Ihe evidence at the inquest showed that on November 11th deceased had been drinking. He went home, and uiaoo himself so objectionable that his wife locked herself in a room. He triel unsuccessfully to break iu. and then fired a shot through the wall. She escaped through a window and spent- the nmht ivith a neighbor. Returning next day slie found the home considerably .disturbed, and various articles stained with blood. Dr. FyfFe said deceased had a gaping wound in his throat, six inches long, and very deep. Death, however, was due to drowning. If deceased, after wounding himself, walked to where the body was found (a mile aud a-half), it was unexplainable. A verdict was returned that death was caused by drowning, but there was no evidence to shew* how deceased got •ato the water.
