CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 30 During November there were 18/ births in the Christchurch registration district, 50 deaths, and'76 marriages. For November, 1908. the figures-were 159 births,. 6S deaths,.ami 69 marriages.

In the afternoon he sjioke at a sale of work at the Technical College in aid of work amongst children in the East End of London. In the evening', at His Majesty’s Theatre, lie was tendered a welcome I)3' the Trades and Labor Council, the Fabian Club, and: other bodies. Mr. .Crooks will- leavetor Dunedin to-morrow morning.
DUNEDIN ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL BOARD.
DUNEDIN, Nov. 30. The annual meeting of the new Anglican Cathedral Board was held yesterday. The report stated that promises amounted to £9985 10s 6d, money actually received being £7712 15s. This did not include a grant of £IOOO from the S.P.C.K. A» appeal was now lieing made for a million T>ennies, which would enable a new chancel to be built. The Primate stated that the Harrop fund now stood at £27,818, and was 'in the hands? of the Public Trustee. To claim the 'bequest they must raise £20,000. and towards that tliev had now £12,000 odd in sight. It had been decided sonie time ago to begin building operations when £17,000 was ip-, hand, and he appealed for further 'efforts'. ’ ’ otago Methodist synod. Nov. 30.
