TDRANGANDI CLUB.
The wet weather of the past few days has militated against constant play on the Turanganui green, but it has not altogether damped the ardour of enthusiasts, for so far three match games have been played this week. 1 e results are: — 1 -:
\ Pairs. — W H. Douglas and B. Hird (skip) (sot) 26 beat J. B; Leydon and J. Colley (skip) (1 point) 25.—This v’as an even game in the early part, when on .the sth head Colley was i to 4. Hird, however, made the score 8 all on tiic Bth iiead. At the 12th head Colley had a lead of one, 12—11, but then Hird and his partner got a ““ove on, ana on the 14th head were 17 to 12, and on the 19th head 25 to 14 Thus the game looked hopeless for Leydon and Colley, but it was not so, for on the 20th head they got m a six, Hird tailin" to save. Then on tho 21st ,h. ea d they put up a four, Hird -again failing. The 21st head thus showed: Hird 10, Colley 24. As the latter received one point handicap, the scores were thus 2o nil. In the extra head played, Douglas was lying three when the'skips 1 changed ends/ ' Colletf with his'second bowl drew the' shot, biit Hird with his third a ■lovely bowl, carried the jack and Jay oiie; Colley made a splendid attempt at the shot bowl, but just failed. Hird threw away his last bowl, and thus won by one point. .—Bennett Cup.— J. J. Martin 23 beat W. H. Douglas 19. —Right throughout tho game Martin had the lead,. getting in two fours on the second and third heads. Ho was 12 to 4 on the 6th head, 18 to 8 on the 12th head, .and 23 to 12 on the 18th head.. Then Douglas made a good recovcry with . somo splendid. snots, unci was only defeated by -four points. .Challenge Walking Stick.— . W. Ratcliffe (holder) 11 beat W. H. Douglas (challenger) 3.—Ratcliffe got in a three on tQio first head, and repeated the performance shortly after, giving the challenger no chance, who only scored on tw’p heads.., r ../ ; M. G'. Nasmith, junr., lias issued a challenge to the holder. —Douglas Feathers. — Rv- TheTwaU and W, Ratcliffe (skip) have challenged the holders . of . the Douglas Feathers, W. Hay anil M. G.
