FEILDING RACES. A, j_ ri»EU Piiess Association.] FEILDING, Nov. 30. The weather was fine for the first day of the Feilding spring meeting, and the attendance was good. There wore big fields, and good racing, witli no accidents. The, following were the results : . V / ‘. •
Flying Stakes, 6 furlongs.—Equitas .7.9 T, Longner 8.9 2, Sir Antrim 7.2 3. The other starters were: Irish Rifle, Sharpshooter, Mon Ami, Truganini, Miss Winnie, Vi, Nyland, Bliss, Merchantman and Nicotine. There was a fairly good start, Nicotine losing a couple of lengths. Miss Winnie was the first to show out, but was soon supplanted by Bliss, who led around the bend, followed by Equitas. In the line for home Equitas raced to the front, and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, lmin losec. Aorangi Hack Welter, 7 furlongs.— Captain Bell 8.12 1, Chauvelin. 8.4 2, Mklian 8.8 3. Also started: Miscast, Sublime, King’s Prize, Astraea, Marathon, Teotano, Guiding Step, Parable, Rangikura, Envoy, Silva, East Wind, Arcadia* and Motukawa. Captain Bell was the first to show out from a straggling start.’ Running down the back,. Captain Bell hail a length’s advantage from Chauvelin. The latter passed • the leader when well in the straight, hut o"Uosite the stand Captain Bell responded gamely, and landed the stake by a neck. Time, lmin 31£sec. St. Andrew’s Handicap, 1} miles.— Taskmaster 8.0 1, Roosevelt 8.5 2, Bismarck. 6.7 3. The other starters Were: Lady Lucy, Mendip, Waitapu, Bourrasque and Compass. A good start saw Mendip shoot to the front, and passing the stand ho was showing clear.from R.oosevelt. Going out on the straight Mendip was steadied, and Roosevelt and Bismarck took the lead, Ladv Lucy whipping the field. At the four furlongs post Taskmaster ran into third place, but joined the leaders entering the straight. In the run home ho won comfortably from Roosevelt, Bismarck third. Spring Hurdles, about 2 miles mac 1, AVhatakura 2, Whimper 3. Also started: Tyrannic, Maidi, Gold Dust, Xavier, Belario, Feu de Joio and Papakura. Reuinac was first over the hurdle opposite the stand to the seven-fur-long post. Here Tyrannic went to the front, and led the field for the next helf mile. Reumac again took the lead closely followed by Wliatakura. The latter outjumped Reumac at the last hurdle, and led to within a few yards of the post. A ding-dong finish saw Reumac the winner by a short neck. Time, 4min. Waituna Hack Hurdles, 1} miles. — Pearl Reef 9.8 1, Polyanthus 11.13 2, Master Paul 3. Also started: Don Carlos, Genuine, Master Paul and Senn Finn. Genuine and Master Paul were out by themselves for over a mile, Don Carlos running third. R-ounding the bend Genuine cried enough. Moose headed Master Paul at the last fence, hut made a faulty jump, and Pearl Reef got in front. Pritchard got going again on Moose, crossed on to the rails slightly interfering with Pearl Reef, and won by two lengths. Time, 2min 48 3-ssec. A protest was lodged against the winner for interference. After a short deliberation the stewards 'sustained the-protest, and awarded the race to Pearl Reef. Fourth Feilding Stakes, 5 furlongs.— —Lord Soult 8.12 1, Lord Kelvin 6.6 2. Broadsword 8.5 3. Also started: Gold Crest, Longner, Tenterhook, Ormulu, True Shot, Kohinoor. The race was robbed of all interest by Lord Soult getting a big break on the field, and leading all the w£iy. Time, lmin 1 3-5 sec. Kiwitea Welter, 1 mile.—Flingot 8.13 1, Paisano 9.9 2, Tiptoe ,9.7 3. Also started: Osiris. San Fernando, Strategist, Full Sail, Bridge, Cyrene, Diamond Star, Waipuni, and Reformist. From a splendid start Cyrene and Paisano came out in front till the straight was reached. Here Flingot came up and won by half a length. Time, lmin 45s ec Fitzroy Hack Flying, 6 furlongs.— Royal Marine 8.2 l t Magneto 2, Shannon Lass 3. Also started: Golden Loop, Toanga, Idealism, Dervish, Leahora. Singer, . Amphianser, Nukuhau, Bravery and Handsome Maid. There was a poor start. Golden Jx>op was left at the post. Magneto led to half way up the straight where Royal Marine came along and 1 won by threequarters of a length. There were thirteen bookmakers inside and nine outside. The totalisator receipts showed a considerable falling off from last year.
