Co.’s Tarawera arrived from South yesterda-y morning and proceeded North during the morning. She returns oh Sunday next. \ The Huddart-Parlrer Co.’s Victoria arrived from Auckland and Sydney yesterday afternoon, and left later in the evening for South. The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall yesterday -called at Tologa Bay, and landed the over-carried cargo. Captain T. A. Franks, with the s.s. Gosford, purchased from the Kaipara S.S. Co., arrived here yesterday afternoon. The Gosford is intended for the local trawling trade. Captain Franks reports leaving Helensville last Thursday at 9.30 p.m., and clearing the har at 7 a.m. on Friday. Cape Maria "was passed at. 11 p.m. the same day, when the vessel ran into a S.E. gale. On Saturday evening they put into Russell, leaving there again on Monday at 6 a.m. A heavy S.E. sea was encounjtered down the coast to East Cape, which was passed yesterday at 5 p.m. 'A southerly wind and sea were experienced from there until arrival. The “vessel arrived' ofF Tuahine at 2 o’clock ' •this morning, but the Tuahine light eould not be picked up, so she was hove to until daylight. The Gosford is a dine type of vessel. She is 92ft long, 20ft beam, and has a draught of Bft, the registered tonnage being 88 tons. She is a good sea boat, and against the gale last Friday and Saturday averaged six knots. The Gosford was at one time used for passenger traffic. She lias been thoroughly overhauled, has been recaulked and resheathed, and the engines have all been repaired and renewed where necessary. Tho trawling apparatus is being got ready, and it is hoped to have the new trawler at work in a day or two. The scow Wanderer arrived from Wellington yesterday afternoon with bridge material for the Public Works Department. She will probably sail for Mercury Bay and Auckland on Saturday. , , . The U.S.S. Co.’s Wanaka having been delayed at Napier owing to rough weather, did not arrive here until late last evening. After discharging her cargo she px - oceeded for Auckland about midnight. The Westport Coal Co.’s Regulus arrived at Westport from Gisborne yesterday morning. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Dec. 1.
