The Duke Carl Theodore of Bavaria, brother of the Empress Elizabeth of Austria, is dead. As an amateur oculist he performed 5000 operations for cataract.

The death is announced of Romesh Chunder Dutt, a prominent member of the / Royal Asiatic Society
[Romesh Chunder Dutt, who was aged 61, was lecturer of Indian history in the University College, London. He was a Divisional Commissioner between 1894 and 1895, being the only Indian native to attain that position in the last century. He was decorated in 1892 for ability and success as an/administrator, nnd for learned work and researches concerning ancient India.] -
