NEW ZEALAND AND THE TENNIS ASSOCIATION.

Uniter Fresh Association - Coi , v..Riail'B (Received Dec. 3, 1.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 2. The Council of the Tennis Association, with Professor Hunter, of New Zealand, discussed the question of New Zealand’s secession, and decided to; make pertain alterations in the constitution of the Association. These will be considered at a further meeting, and if then endorsed, Professor Hunter agreed- on behalf of New Zealand to rejoin the Association. As the .Council was unanimous to-night it is believed that the endorsement is certain, and that the difficulty is practically ended.

FOXTON SCULLING HANDICAP.

("Per Press Association.! PALAIERSTON N., Dec. 2

The first heats of the Foxton Sculling Handicap were decided to-day at Longreach, above the Wirokino bridge, 11anawatu river. The attendance was not large. The flower of the . Australian, and New Zealand sculling world had been brought together by that enterprising and plucky sportsman. Mr. S. Messena, and as an additional attraction Air. Wm. Beach, the unbeaten champion of the world, was present as umpire. Added to these attractions were a perfect course both for competitors and onlookers and fine weather.

The management had splendid facilities for handling a crowd of 2000-or 3000. . Accommodation was provided’ for horses, vehicles, and motors, in. short, nothing was lacking on the part, of the promoters to make a success of. the occasion.

There is every reason t-o believe that? the final heats to be rowed to-day will attract a much greater gathering. The following are the results:— First heat: S. Iyemp (24secs) 1, T. Lawson (60secs) 2, Alitcheil (Msec) 3. Also started: A. S. Green (30sec) and AY. T. Ogilvie (oosec). Won by a length and a half. Green gave up a mile from the post. Second heat: A. G. Felton (24scc) 1, It. Green (60see) 2, W. Webb (ser) 3. T. Green also started. AYon by one and a half lengths, Webb two lengths a wav.

Third heat: E. Larson (30see) 1, 5..Hagney (lOsec) 2. J. Ellis (4osec) 3. ; Won by two lengtlis. , .
