Lieutenant Adams, a member of Sir E. Sliackleton’s expedition, has been appointed superintendent of one of six principal labor exchanges. Tho appointments include two Transvaal retrenched Civil Servants.
RELIEF FOR THE UNEMPLOYED
The Lord Mayor of Newcastle-on-Tyne inaugurated a fund for the relief of the unemployed. He states that there are 40,000 sufferers by the recent depression.
THE CLAN MACPHERSON POSTED
MISSING
The ship Clan MacPherson, which left Newcastle, Australia, on June 24th, for' Valparaiso, coal laden, has been posted as missing.
A CHINESE MURDER
SYDNEY, Dec. 3
A Chinaman, with his head terribly battered, has been found dead in a hut at Glen Innnis. He is supposed to have been murdered by another Chinaman with whom he had quarrelled.
