Mr. Laurenson, Government "Whip, tells me that nothing has been definitely arranged on the part of the leaseholders to proceed, as stated in some of the papers, to extremities to block the Land Bill. It is still hoped, be says, that a basis of agreement between the leaseholders and the freeholders on the Government side of the House may be arrived at, so that they can meet "oil common grounds. Mr. Laurenson is one of the strongest upholders of the leasehold principle in the House.
