At the Turanganui Bowling Club’s green yesterday afternoon another match m the first round of the handicap pairs was played, the result or 'which was:— , . C. Morse and A. Sawyer (scr) jo, beat T. McConnell and W. Bruce (3) 14 —The game was even at the commencement the scores being 5 all on the 6th head. Then Sawyer and his partner put up twelve on the next five heads, the score showing 1/ to o m Sawyer’s favor on the 11th head. On the remaining ten heads each side scored six points the s hj«in <r • Morse and Sawyer 23, McConnell Bruce 11. As the latter pair received a handicap of three points, they thus suffered defeat by rune p<mits. The first round of the pans is to be completed this afternoon.
The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Turanganui Bowling cfTSSTtaU in the - Recojd Ko.gn Hotel last evening. Mi. M. Biuct, president, occupied the chair, there bei so present: Messrs M. Skect (secretai y). /-<• A letter was received from tlie Gisborne Bowling Club, inviting the members of the Turanganui Club to bo present at the opening of the new pavilion, and suggesting that on the same day the first of the inter-club matches bo placed, each club being represented by three rinks.—lt was resolved to heartilv accept the invitation, and three skips, were appointed, who are- to choose their teams. . . . It was resolved to authorise tne Match Committee to procure four pennants for the Pennant Fours (challenge). , , The matter of club colors was discussed, and Mr M. G. Nasmith, jnr, was authorised to attend to the matter or blazers and hat-bands, and to give an order if sufficient- inducement offered.
